CWWP: Tianjin Through Ocean and Industry

CWWP: Tianjin Through Ocean and Industry

As part of the Classroom Without Walls Programme, Grade 5 students took part in a four-day exploration trip to Tianjin, designed around a thematic exploration, independent inquiry, and hands on learning. Students investigated the city through the connected lenses of ocean, industry, culture, and collaboration. Visits to the National Maritime Museum, Tianjin Iron and Steel Group, and Changlu Saltworks helped students understand the city’s maritime roots and industrial development. Cultural discovery continued on Ancient Culture Street, where students experienced traditional performances and local heritage, and along the Haihe River, where night walks revealed Tianjin’s unique river sea identity.

Service and environmental responsibility were key elements of the programme. Students participated in street cleanups to remove coastal waste and worked together to curate eco themed exhibition displays and advocacy materials focused on marine conservation. Through immersive visits to locations such as Aircraft Carrier Park and nearby industrial zones, students developed global citizenship skills while applying classroom learning in real world contexts. The trip enabled students to grow in knowledge.
