CWWP: Xi’an Ancient City Trip

CWWP: Xi’an Ancient City Trip

As part of the Classroom Without Walls Programme, Grade 7 students took part in a four-day learning journey to Xi’an Ancient City. The trip was designed around experiential and inquiry based learning, connecting nature, history, culture, science, and service through immersive fieldwork. Students explored some of China’s most significant historical sites, including the Xi’an City Wall, the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Hanyangling Mausoleum, and the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum. These visits were supported by hands on activities such as shadow puppetry painting, terracotta warrior replication, archaeological simulations, helping students bring history to life through active participation.

The programme also encouraged reflection, creativity, and collaboration beyond traditional classroom learning. Cultural experiences such as local cuisine workshops, visits to Yuanjia Village, and the live performance Xi’an Eternal Romance deepened students’ understanding of regional heritage and storytelling. The journey concluded with a study tour closing ceremony that celebrated student learning, artistic expression, and personal growth. Through structured inquiry, real world engagement, and shared experiences, the Xi’an trip transformed the ancient capital into a living classroom and strengthened students’ understanding of Chinese civilization and their role as reflective learners.
