CWWP: Luoyang Ancient City Exploration
Under the Classroom Without Walls Programme, Grade 6 students joined a four-day learning journey to Luoyang Ancient City, exploring the historical and cultural heart of China. Luoyang, once considered the centre of China, provided a powerful setting for students to reflect on continuity, change, and national identity. The programme was guided by a framework, weaving together creativity, activity, and service through carefully designed experiences. On the first day, students visited the Longmen Grottoes for clay sculpture work and attended an opening ceremony featuring Yu Opera, deepening their appreciation of traditional art and collective cultural identity.
The following days brought immersive learning through Tang Dynasty themed activities, water conservancy studies at the Yellow River Xiaolangdi Project, and teamwork-based treasure hunts at the Ancient Tomb Museum. On Mount Songshan, students experienced martial arts training, cultural immersion through historical dress, and meaningful exchanges with peers through school uniform sharing. The journey concluded with peony flower steamed bun making and donations, combining service, creativity, and community care. Through this rich programme, students experienced Luoyang as a living classroom and developed a deeper understanding of cultural heritage, collaboration, and personal growth.
