Alumni Connect – Jenny Ding
Posted on |
Jenny Ding joined BWYA in 2016 and spent four formative years at the school from Grade 9 through DP2. Now working as a trader in New York, Jenny credits her time at BWYA with shaping both her global outlook and personal growth. One of her most memorable experiences was a Grade 10 CAS trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand, which reflected the school’s strong emphasis on international-mindedness. Surrounded by classmates from across the world, Jenny learned the value of connecting through shared experiences despite different cultural backgrounds—an outlook that continues to influence her career and life today.
At BWYA, Jenny was encouraged to explore widely, a mindset that initially made choosing a university major challenging but ultimately rewarding. Inspired by visual arts classes, she began college studying art history before transitioning to economics and data science, combining creativity with her strength in mathematics. The IB approach to reflection, goal-setting, and balancing diverse skills prepared her well for a liberal arts environment and beyond. Looking back, Jenny’s advice to current students is simple yet powerful: get enough rest, stay curious, and never stop asking questions.
