    DP Biology Comes Alive in Surgical Lab Experience

    Nineteen DP1 Biology students recently visited Capital Medical University, where they spent a day immersed in the work of the Physiology and Pathophysiology Department.

    The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to see how laboratory science operates in a professional setting. They observed graduate researchers conducting a heart procedure on a rat and took part in practical workshops, including testing for diabetes. These experiences provided meaningful insight into how concepts studied in DP Biology are applied in real research and medical contexts.

    Reflecting on the visit, Mr Hugo Pratt, Head of Science for DP Biology, said:
    “Open days like these are essential for our students to explore the real-world connections between the DP Biology Physiology topics we study, as well as their links to current research taking place in universities across the world.”

    The trip was both engaging and thought-provoking, helping students to better understand the relevance of their studies and inspiring future interest in science and medicine.
