Alumni Stories – Minjae Kweon

Alumni Stories - Minjae Kweon

MinJae Daniel Kweon, a 2018 graduate, looks back on his six–year journey with great fondness. He was fortunate to have meaningful conversations with his teachers that transcended the boundaries of traditional academic subjects like Chemistry, Physics, and Math. These interactions delved into broader topics such as his future career aspirations and life in general. Daniel was inspired to further his studies and enrolled at Yonsei University in South Korea, initially majoring in Chemistry before successfully transitioning to the College of Pharmacy. His current employment at a Korean pharmaceutical company is a clear indication of the solid foundation he laid during his time here.

The IB programme at BWYA played a pivotal role in Daniel’s personal and intellectual development. TOK and CAS components were particularly impactful. TOK encouraged Daniel to unleash his creativity and think critically, while CAS helped him become more open-minded. This open-mindedness became an invaluable asset as he faced new challenges throughout his academic and professional journey. Even after graduating from BWYA, the skills and qualities he cultivated continued to serve him well. When he moved back to South Korea, he encountered reverse culture shock, but his open-mindedness enabled him to adapt smoothly to the new cultural environment.

Daniel’s advice for the young Wolves is to make the most of their high-school years, as this is a crucial period for shaping their future. He emphasises the importance of studying hard, actively participating in school activities, and building strong friendships. However, he also reminds them to have fun along the way. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Daniel for sharing his inspiring journey with us and wish him luck in his WHO journey! His story serves as a powerful source of motivation for both current and future students at BWYA.
