  • Experiential Learning – Hands-on activities that deepen understanding.
  • 111Personal Growth – Building confidence, problem-solving skills, and collaboration.
  • Cultural Citizenship – Fostering cultural appreciation and environmental stewardship.

Chengdu: A Cultural Odyssey

In early November, Grade 9 students journeyed to Chengdu, the vibrant capital of Sichuan Province. Known for its rich heritage and culinary traditions, Chengdu offered a five-day itinerary that combined historical exploration, artistic expression, and cultural discovery.

Day 1: Poetry in Motion
The adventure began at Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage, a sanctuary of classical Chinese literature. Students walked through serene gardens, studied Tang Dynasty poetry, and participated in a creative workshop where they transformed verses into visual art— an inspiring start that bridged language and imagination.

Day 2: Unearthing Ancient Civilisations
At the Sanxingdui Archaeological Site, students encountered the mysteries of China’s Bronze Age. Towering masks and intricate artefacts revealed the sophistication of early cultures.

Day 3: Culinary Arts and Performing Traditions
The Sichuan Cuisine Museum turned learning into tasting as students explored the origins of Sichuan flavours and cooked signature dishes. Later, they immersed themselves in Sichuan Opera, trying traditional makeup and learning about the dramatic art of face-changing— a cultural experience that was as colourful as it was memorable.

Day 4: Pandas and Engineering Marvels
At Dujiangyan Panda Valley, conservation science came alive. Students observed efforts to protect giant pandas and understood the ecological balance required for survival. The day continued at the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a 2,000-year-old engineering wonder that still sustains millions- a lesson in sustainability and ingenuity.

Day 5: Seeds of Innovation
The trip concluded at the Yuan Longping Hybrid Rice Science & Technology Park, where students explored agricultural breakthroughs that combat global hunger. From threshing rice to grinding grain, they connected science with social responsibility.

Yangshuo: Adventure in the Karst Landscape

Grade 10 students headed south to Yangshuo, a paradise of limestone peaks and winding rivers. This four-day outdoor adventure camp focused on resilience, collaboration, and environmental awareness.

Nature as the Classroom
Yangshuo’s dramatic karst formations provided the backdrop for activities that challenged both body and mind. Students navigated cave systems, discovering stalactites, underground rivers, and scaled cliffs, learning to overcome fear and trust their abilities.

Water and Wilderness
Kayaking along the Yulong River combined skill-building with pure fun. Under instructor guidance, students mastered paddling techniques and joined playful challenges midstream— sometimes ending with a splash! Orienteering added a strategic twist, sharpening decision-making and teamwork.

Shared Lessons: Two Journeys, One Vision

Though Chengdu and Yangshuo offered contrasting experiences—one rooted in cultural heritage, the other in outdoor adventure—their impact was strikingly similar. Both trips:

  • Connected Learning to Life – Students applied classroom knowledge in authentic settings.
  • Built Core Competencies – Resilience, problem-solving, and collaboration were at the heart of every activity.
  • Fostered Global Awareness – From panda conservation to sustainable agriculture, from geological wonders to cultural traditions, students gained insights into humanity’s relationship with nature.

These journeys exemplify what CWWP stands for: education that inspires curiosity, nurtures character, and prepares students for a complex, interconnected world.

展望未来

As students returned from Chengdu and Yangshuo, they carried more than souvenirs—they brought back confidence, creativity, and a renewed sense of discovery. In breaking down walls, they built bridges: between past and future, knowledge and experience, self and society.

CWWP isn’t just a programme. It’s a philosophy—one that turns every journey into a lesson and every lesson into a lifelong memory.
