A May Fair to Remember

This year’s May Fair was a resounding success, bringing together our school community under sunny skies. We were delighted to welcome not only new families and staff joining us for the coming school year, but also distinguished guests, including the wife of the Indonesian Ambassador, the family of the Head of the Bank of Indonesia, and the Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

A highlight of this year’s fair was a meaningful pre-event initiative led by Ms Irene Ling, our High School Science Teacher. Eight Grade 9 students completed an online training programme with the Yunshan Biodiversity Conservation and Research Centre. In the days leading up to the fair, and throughout the event itself, they shared their knowledge and raised awareness about gibbon conservation, adding a strong environmental message to the festivities.

The fair featured 101 booths and 37 stage performances, including a memorable debut from alumna Chiaro Xia and a 60-member student-parent choir organised by Ms Chanel Venter and Mr Alex Ferreira. Meanwhile, parents from the PTA calligraphy classes exhibited their work for the fifth consecutive year.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the fair raised a net total of RMB 280,187.20 after expenses. The proceedings will go to Chunhui Children’s Foundation (www.chbaf.org), Roundabout China (www.roundaboutchina.com) and Yunshan Biodiversity Conservation & Research Centre (www.cloudmountain.cn).

Above all, the event was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped strengthen the spirit of our school community.
