Our School
Beijing World Youth Academy (BWYA) was founded in 2001 by its board of investors as an international university preparatory school. BWYA is approved by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission to enroll local and overseas students aged 10 to 19.
BWYA Middle school , Chinese section, offers a bilingual programme. 60% off all lessons are taught in the Chinese language and 40% off all lessons are taught in the English language. BWYA High school, Chinese section, has a full Chinese curriculum which prepares the students for admission to top universities. Many of our graduates have been accepted at Chinese universities like Peking and Qinghua University, as well as overseas universities like Harvard and Princeton.
Since 2001 BWYA is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer students aged 16 to 19 the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP), in the English section, which is widely recognized as the most complete qualification for university entrance. Since October 2009 BWYA is authorized by the IB to offer students aged 11 to 15 the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Being an international school, BWYA holds the aim of "Education for Life", stressing the principle of "Students Centre", with one purpose, being to bring together cultures of the east and west, and the other to give prominence to the coaching of students' ability. Through rigorous work that develops students' personality and confidence, the school has established an excellent atmosphere of self-discipline, hard work, thoughtfulness and innovation.
Our international population is made up of students from more than 40 countries including United States of America, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, India, Micronesia, Mongolia, Nigeria, Fiji and Thailand. Our staff members come from different parts of the world. They are licensed and experienced in international education. Their diverse backgrounds contribute the schools international character.
Facilities
BWYA operates in two campuses, one in the Lido area and the other in the Wangjing area. Both campuses are conveniently located in Chaoyang district, just east from the fourth ring road (dong si huan). The school buildings contain more than 30 class rooms, have libraries, a theatre, science laboratories, computer rooms, art rooms and administration offices. Play areas such as basketball fields, running track and football fields are accessible to students.
