Interested in science, robotics or electronic music? We have a club for that. Want to write news articles, produce TV shows or podcasts? We have a club for those as well. BWYA offers over 80 clubs and afterschool activities and we are adding more all the time, many of which are student led. We are sure that we can offer all of our students something that piques their interest outside of the classroom.
For our young learners clubs are offered at our Upper Primary Campus, with 12 clubs available although we are always happy to hear from parents and staff who would like to volunteer to host a club. Beijing World Youth Academy Choir
Singing is an expression of emotion and personality. It can help confidence to grow and creativity to shine through! It fosters friendships old and new, and can create a sense of unity – an understanding that we share a common interest. Singing provides an outlet for stress and tension, and naturally lifts one’s mood! This club is designed to enhance the musical, creative, and expressive qualities of all students. In choir club students are taught basic techniques to help improve pitch, posture, breathing for singing, and an element of songwriting.
Lego Robotics
If you thought Lego was just about multi-coloured building blocks for kids to play with, then you’ve never seen anything like a Lego Robotics tournament. The BWYA Lego Robotics Club knows just what you can do with the world famous mini-bricks and they have the trophies to prove it. Club members learn simple robotics and how to make machines and mechanisms, competing with other schools in challenges and competitions. Budding engineers will love this club.

Forensics
Have you got a gift for getting your message across? BWYA’s famous Forensics club focuses on public speaking, debating and improvisation. There are five events in which students can participate: original oratory (writing your own speech), impromptu (receive a topic and prepare a 3-5 minute speech on the topic in under 90 seconds), debate (receive a topic and defend/oppose the topic with a teammate), duet acting (act out a scene with a partner), and oral interpretation (read a piece of literature dramatically). Forensics club members are always eager to improve their speaking and thinking skills and take part in competitions with other schools from Beijing and beyond.
Model United Nations
Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. The participants role-play as diplomats representing a nation in a stimulated session of a committee of the United Nations such as the Security Council or the General Assembly. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions for world problems.

Spirit Week & The Wolf Cup
Wow, the last couple of weeks have been jam-packed fun for the whole school! It all started with the Wolf Cup to crown the best of the school in football, volleyball, badminton, and basketball.
G5 National History Competition Champions
Recently, Max (G5S) and Ryan (G5P) competed in the National History Day competition in Shanghai. They were in different teams but we are incredibly proud to report that they came 1st and 2nd in the junior bracket! Listen to their story below!
Club Fair – Middle School
With over 100 extra curricular clubs and activities across the school, it is always an important time when all of the clubs band together to try to recruit new members for the new semester.
Classroom Without Walls Programme
As a major culture learning opportunity, the Classroom Without Walls Programme is designed to enrich and extend classroom learning. Activities cover five major areas: Culture, History, Community Service, Language Practice and Subject Learning. The programme aims to encourage the BWYA community to explore new ways to teach, experience and learn within and beyond the school. The focus will be different according to the subjects students of each grade are learning. Heads of Grade, Homeroom teachers and other BWYA teachers and administrators accompany the students on the trips. Professional staff from our long term cooperated educational companies in Beijing, Hong Kong and Yangshuo also provide help, support and first aid.
On the map opposite, you can see where some of the 2013-19 CWWP trips went in China. Outside of China, trips also included locations such as Singapore, Thailand, America, Japan, and Germany.
